Seeing is Believing
Fr Barry looks at the person of Thomas the Apostle and Jesus’ interaction with him and, ultimately, with us. Jesus knew what the disciples and Thomas needed for belief and showed them the physical signs that our humanity craves for confirmation of belief. Jesus, though we cannot physically see Him now, continues to give us ways of “seeing” Him, in the Eucharist, in creation and, most notably, in our Christian brothers and sisters. We are made to be social beings in community and in that community, the church, Jesus reveals Himself to us through each other. It should encourage all of us to strive to be His instruments and to show Him to everyone we meet.
