Welcome to the Electronic Ministry and Worship Site for Christ the Redeemer Church, a Christian fellowship of passionate disciples of Jesus Christ. We are a family of believers who consider Christian community and discipleship to be essential components of a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ. For that reason, the central focus of our life together is our gathering together for worship, study, prayer and service to those in need. We truly believe we have something unique in the Christian Church. We have sought to find a blend of evangelical fervor, spirit-filled worship, and biblical teaching through the apostolic tradition. We are affiliated with the Worldwide Anglican Communion, the third largest Christian denomination, with over 100 million worshippers in hundreds of countries around the world. Please look over our website and feel free to call our church office to speak with a member of our staff if you have any questions. As we make plans for the development of our six acre campus on Miller Road in Rowlett, we are temporarily worshiping on Broadway Boulevard in Garland (see link). We welcome you to come visit us on Sunday morning for worship. We look forward to visiting with you soon.
Some History: The congregation of Christ the Redeemer Church was formerly a member of the U.S. Province of the Anglican Communion known as The Episcopal Church. We officially separated from the Episcopal Church in March 2007 after a long process of discernment and because of disappointment over the decisions that Episcopal leaders had consistently made not to stay true to the teachings of the Apostles and to the authority of the Bible. The leaders of Christ the Redeemer had been discerning the possibility of this potential separation for over three years and it was not an easy decision to make. However, the bottom line was that in our consciences, we simply could not stay in a denomination whose leaders had consistently demonstrated contempt for the authority of God's word and rebellion against those in authority in the Anglican Communion. Although we petitioned the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas to leave with our property and assets, we were not allowed to do so. On March 11, we had our last worship service at our property on Guthrie Road in Garland and said goodbye to the place that many parishioners had called home for more than 30 years. In a few days, God had opened the doors for a temporary worship space on Broadway Boulevard in Garland and after a collaborative effort involving many long days and short nights, we had our first Sunday worship service there only one week later on March 18th. We now look forward to the development of the six acres of land on Miller Road in Rowlett where our Canterbury Ministry House is located. We are currently in the process of building a worship and ministry center which will serve all of central and southern Rowlett with the Good News of Jesus Christ.
