Day of Healing and Renewal – November 5th, 9am—9pm

The Bible gives us many examples of Jesus healing the sick as an instrument of evangelism. If the Christian Church in America is to be effective in reaching the lost in today’s world, it must recover the ministry of healing and raise up a new generation of disciples who can use the healing ministry as an effective tool of evangelism.

Aside from the valuable and informative teaching on healing and its role in the church’s mission, participants will also have a chance to:

• Receive personal prayer for healing from trained prayer ministers.
• Have practical opportunities to pray for other participants in the area of physical, emotional and spiritual healing.
• Participate in a Healing Service that will focus on different areas of healing: spiritual, emotional & physical
• Further develop spiritual gifts and have an opportunity to receive the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to use those gifts.

Please consider joining other Anglicans from North Texas in Christ the Redeemer’s semi-annual day of Healing & Renewal.

The day will include praise, teaching on healing, prayer for empowerment, prayers for healing in all forms and a chance to fellowship with other Anglicans from around North Texas.  The focus of the Day of Healing and Renewal will be on the healing power of prayer. The registration fee is $20 which includes three meals. Childcare will be provided. A brochure with more information and a registration form should be in your bulletin this week. If not you may get one from the bulletin rack at the back of the sanctuary. Please RSVP as soon as possible to help in planning meals and materials.

 NOTE: For the month of November, this event will replace the normal monthly Saturday morning healing service.

The Women’s Bible Study is on Saturdays at 10:30am. The study is James McDonald’s “Lord, Change My Attitude Before It’s Too Late.” Childcare and snacks are provided. If you have any questions, please contact Candyce Milner.

2011 Grief Recovery Seminar Begins Sept. 24

There is no greater pain than the loss of someone you love. The purpose of this seminar is to enable the bereaved to share with others who are grieving, and to find the comfort of a loving God. It is facilitated by Sharon Nelson, who has held this seminar at Christ The Redeemer for the past four years.

This seminar is not limited to members of Christ The Redeemer, it is open to all, so please feel free to invite anyone you know who has suffered a loss and would benefit from this ministry.

Andy & Liz Gaffaney are involved in Kairos Outside which is a ministry to those who have loved ones who are incarcerated. They will have tickets today for a fundraiser on September 24 at 6:30pm at Saturn Road Church of Christ in Garland. The church is at the corner of Saturn & Kingsley. There will be a dinner followed by a silent auction and drawing. The tickets are $10. See Andy or Liz today if you are interested. The funds raised will help with a weekend retreat in October for women who are impacted by the incarceration of a loved one.

VBS Finishes Up Tomorrow!

Mark your calendar and begin to invite the kids you know to VBS! It will be held July 25th—29th from 9AM to noon each day.

Calling all adults! Please invite your neighborhood children and bring the grandkids. They’ll have a blast and learn about Jesus!

Our Annual Rally Day will be held on Sunday, September 11th, which will signal the return to our regular worship service schedule times of 8 & 10:30.

Make your plans now to attend the Women’s Retreat on June 17th-18th. The retreat will begin at 7pm Friday night but check-in time begins at 3pm if you’d like to come early and have some down-time. There are several great restaurants within walking distance of the hotel if you want to grab a friend and have dinner before the program begins. The retreat will be at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Waxahachie. The all inclusive cost is only $45.

Mark your calendar for the next annual Men’s Day at the Range on Saturday, June18th at 8am at the Garland Public Shooting Range. It’s only $10 for a lifetime membership to the range if you don’t have one. There is a $10 range fee that covers skeet, rifle, and pistol ranges that is good for all day. Spouses are invited.

Fr. Lawrence has just returned from a week-long time of intensive teaching and ministry on the subject of healing. The leaders of his retreat were Francis and Judith McNutt, well known pioneers of the healing ministry. Fr, Lawrence will share with us many of the teachings and insights he received during his week with the McNutts. There are colored brochures in the rack at the back of the Sanctuary for you to take and give to your friends.  The registration fee (which includes 3 meals) is $20. If you need scholarship help please contact Fr. Lawrence.
