February 2008 Archives
A note from our treasurer, Brenda Westerfield...
"Several have asked how to give stocks or bonds to the Promised Land Campaign or to the Operating Account for Christ The Redeemer. We have an account with a broker who does not charge the church a commission. The value of your donation is normally calculated as the average price between the highest and lowest quoted price on the day of transfer. If you have any questions, feel free to call me at my office 972 231-2538.
A quick note from your webservant...
"I have placed the Promised Land Prayer Calendar online this evening. The remaining relevant materials for the Promised Land campaign will be placed online at some point on Monday the 28th, as those materials are at my office."
You can reach the prayer calendar at the following location, should you lose the copy that was in your package you received at Church on Sunday:
http://www.rowlettanglicans.org/promisedland/prayercalendar.html
On a separate note, I will be placing pictures from Sheri Graham's ordination service online as soon as I can weed through the 800 or so I took personally, plus the others I received from folks such as Spencer Williams."
Women’s Bible Study
Beth Moore’s Stepping Up
The Women's Bible Study Stepping Up with the Psalms of Ascent is continuing on Thursday mornings and Saturday mornings each week at 10:00 a.m. We will not have the study during the week of March 4th through the 8th because of the Anglican School of Healing which will be held at our church. The last day of this study will be on Thursday, March 13th, and Saturday, March 15th. Please join us on Thursdays or Saturdays even if you haven't been able to attend the first sessions. There is no charge unless you want a workbook. You will be blessed by any session you attend. Sheri Graham is leading the Thursday morning study, and Claire Harrison is leading the Saturday morning session.
Sponsored by Christ the Redeemer (on March 4-8), Renewal in Christ Ministries, and CANA, the first annual Anglican School of Healing Ministries will be held at CTR from March 4th thru March 8th. It will be taught by The Rev. Canon Gary Dalmasso and The Rev. Lawrence Harrison. The school is a training ground that is designed to give a clear and balanced understanding of healing, together with a fresh experience of the power of the Holy Spirit. It is designed to equip clergy and laity to take healing to the heart of the Church and equip its leaders to take healing into the 21st century world.
There are several options for participation. The fullest experience of training will be to attend all the sessions, both daily and evening. If that is not possible, there are options to attend evening and Saturday, evening only, or Saturday only sessions. They will all be beneficial and expand your knowledge, experience and empowerment for healing prayer ministry. There will also be an emphasis on healing as an evangelistic tool, with the opportunity to participate in outreach.
There are brochures available in the rack by the exit doors. Pick one up today and read all about this wonderful opportunity.
Further information (and an online signup form) is available on our website here.
If you have any other questions, please contact Candyce Milner.
Easter Choir rehearsals begin next Sunday from 10:15 to 10:50 and continue until Easter. If you’d like to be a part of the choir, just show up ready to sing to the Lord!
Today, February 10th & Next Sunday, February 17th
We are asking the K-6th grade children to linger for no more than 30 minutes following the 11:00 worship. The purpose is to allow them to participate in some acts of service to our congregation. This will be a life application of our lessons on Stewardship. If you have any questions, contact Brenda Beggs.
The February edition of the CANA Newsletter is now available as a pdf file. You can download a copy of it via the link below. It requires the use of the free Adobe Reader software, which you can get here if you don't have a copy.
Please look around and see if you’ve either borrowed or mistakenly taken home any tongs, servers, or other items from the church kitchen. We’re running short on things and know that they’re just out visiting with you all! Please make them come back to the church kitchen!
You’re all so wonderful to share your great cooking with us all! Thank you. However, now is the time to pick up your dishes, etc from the kitchen and take them home. The counter under the window in the kitchen is full of homesick dishes. Please pick them up so you can refill them for another time!
Pictures from this past Saturday's Ordination service of Sheri Graham are now online.
A note from your webservant: "I am experimenting with a new solution for viewing photos online. The link here is where these pictures currently are; they are not in the usual photo gallery link on our website.
Furthermore, if you are wishing to print these pictures, please contact me privately. The versions online are not of the highest quality, I have the source originals, which are far more suitable for printing."
If you are having difficulty viewing the slideshow, or wish to see larger images, you can go to the photo gallery via this link.
