Church Name Change
The Board of Holy Trinity Anglican Church has agreed unanimously to change the name of our church. We believe this is important in order for us to leave the difficulties of the separation from ECUSA behind and establish a new Anglican identity under CANA as we move forward in mission and ministry. The process for establishing the new name will be the following:
The Rector will receive suggestions for the new name until September 1st. Submissions should be made in writing and mailed to the church office with attention to Fr. Lawrence. Only one suggested name may be submitted by any member in good standing (baptized, Confirmed, giver of record and letter of transfer to this church) and must be accompanied by a brief description (100 words or less) of why you believe the new name would fit our vision, mission and ministry. The Board will then take a vote on the submissions and reduce the number to 5 or less. Those names will appear on a ballot on September 9 along with delegates to represent this church at the CANA Annual Council in November. Ballots may be cast before and after both services on Sunday, September 9, 2007. There will be no proxy voting. Any member in good standing will be allowed to cast one vote for the new name, regardless of the member's age. The new name will become effective as soon thereafter as we are able to change the legal and practical documentation in various places.
Please pray for the Board and for this process as we seek the Lord's will for our new identity.
