New Church Update

Posted on June 17, 2007 10:07 AM

I want to keep the parish family updated on the continuing developments in the process toward building a new church. In the past week, the Building Committee has met with both the architect and the Capital Campaign Consultant and has made progress toward the development of a Master Plan. During the summer months the Master Plan will be finalized and the Capital Campaign will be developed, so that in September, we can present a possible Master Plan to the congregation and begin to pray about the stewardship of our resources to be used in the first phase of our building program.

The architect is currently in the process of interviewing key ministry leaders and assessing the possible mission and ministry needs of our congregation in the years ahead. The Building Committee is visiting other churches and has scheduled times of fasting and prayer to consider God’s plan for the future of our campus. The Board is working in cooperation with both the architect and the Building Committee in this endeavor. As specific decisions are made or milestones reached, I will update you, primarily through my reflections page here, which will be updated frequently. Please keep all of these things in your prayers throughout the summer months.

Faithfully and gratefully in Jesus,

Fr Lawrence

Continue the good work that has begun!

Posted on June 10, 2007 8:55 AM

Please remember that we have a continuing need for everyone to practice financial stewardship. Above your tithes and offerings there is still a need for giving toward payments on the land. Let us press on in the good work our Lord has given us!

Will YOU go?

Posted on June 8, 2007 9:20 AM

An Evangelism Team is forming to share the love of Jesus Christ with our neighborhood and to help them become disciples. There are places for every gift and talent to be used by God in His service—from knocking on doors to helping prepare materials, and one of the most important things is provide prayer covering at specific times. If you are interested or would like more information, contact Sheri Graham at 972-557-3997, or email office@rowlettanglicans.org, or call the church office.

Remember our Mission Statement: “Go therefore and make disciples . . . “ Will you go?

The Holy Spirit & You Series Continues

Posted on June 8, 2007 9:15 AM

Father Lawrence will be teaching an adult education series based on the best selling book entitled The Holy Spirit & You by Dennis and Rita Bennett. No other book has been more instrumental in helping Christians understand the Holy Spirit and live a spirit-filled life. This study guide to living a spirit-filled life has been translated into 16 languages and has sold over a million copies. In 1985, it was chosen by the Christian Booksellers Convention as one of the most significant books published in the past 25 years.

This Christian education series will cover such topics at the “Baptism of the Holy Spirit,” discovering and using spiritual gifts, the gifts of tongues, how to receive a personal prayer language, and how to have a meaningful relationship with the third person of the Trinity. Books will be available today for $10. Each week there will be a handout for the next session with study notes and questions to help guide the discussion. This will be a true educational experience and an opportunity for every person to strengthen his or her spiritual life and live a deeper life of discipleship.

Father Lawrence will be teaching this series at Canterbury House on Wednesday evenings at 7PM.

We've got some really great kids and are in need of several volunteers to serve on a rotating schedule to help with these little ones. Directory Pictures

Posted on June 8, 2007 9:00 AM

This coming Sunday the 17th of June, our Webservant Joe Siegler will be at the church with his trusty camera and laptop and will be updating pictures for the members directory. Please check the members directory while you're reading this to make sure there is a picture of you there. If there is not, please see Joe Siegler in the lobby on the 17th to have your picture taken. You may also have your existing picture retaken, should you wish that. We're really hoping to get a better participation percentage than we had at the old church, where only about 1/3 of the people had their picture taken. If you have any questions about this, please email Joe at church@siegler.net. Thank you.

Please note that pictures will not be taken on the 10th due to Bishop Minns' being in town. I will have my camera with me, but am not formally planning on taking pictures, but I can probably squeeze in a few - find me on the 10th about that if you wish.

Summer 2007 Newsletter Posted

Posted on June 4, 2007 2:01 PM

The inaugural issue of the new church newsletter, "The Anglican Sword" has been mailed out. Some folks have gotten theirs, but if you have not, it should be arriving shortly. If you do not get one, it probably means you have not turned in an info sheet to the church, and we do not have you on our records. Please either call the church office, or pick up a form when you are in church next. They are in the back of the church in the rack where you can pick up a bulletin.

The electronic version of the newsletter is online in our members area right now as a pdf download. Head over ther to check it out if you are a member and have not received your printed copy yet.
